TTS Marine ASA's subsidiary TTS–LMG Marine Cranes GmbH has signed a contract worth approximately NOK 16 million for the delivery of 2 ship sets of deck cranes (each ship will be equipped with 4 wire luffing rope cargo cranes) with the shipyard P.T PAL in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The newbuildings which will be equipped with these cranes are 50.000 DWT double skin bulk carriers (STAR-50), contracted by the ship-owner Lauterjung in Germany. The first ship shall be delivered by the yard by beginning of 2006 and the second approx. 4 months later. The vessels are going directly into a charter after their delivery.
The cranes to be supplied are Single Deck Cranes type KL 35/28t – 25/28m and are equipped with a control device for operation with a motor grab.
The steelwork and assembly will be delivered from local subcontractors in Indonesia, while key components such as the crane cabin, hydraulic power pack and electrical motors will be delivered from Lübeck, Germany and shipped to TTS’ Indonesian subcontractor for final assembly and testing.
This is the first crane supply contract entered by TTS-LMG Marine Cranes GmbH since TTS acquired the crane division from Lübecker Maschinenbau Gesellschaft GmbH. This is as an important first step in entering this new market segment for TTS.
TTS-LMG is looking with good prospects into other projects which are still under negotiations.
