TTS has signed a business cooperation agreement with Vinashin Precision Engineering Joint Stock Company, Vietnam.
The agreement seals the status of the long-term cooperation between the two companies. The long-lasting deal covers the manufacturing and assembly of all kinds of TTS cargo access and handling equipment in the field of marine-related steel structures.
With a new fabrication facility set to open in Vietnam in September 2007, TTS has now established a solid platform from which to consolidate the Vinashin cooperation and build on its recent successes in the country. TTS’s focus areas in Vietnam include newbuilds and retrofitting for car carriers, bulk and container vessels, and ship lengthening projects.
Under the agreement, TTS will design and supply a range of equipment both for the domestic Vietnamese market and for export. Products will include folding hatch covers for bulk, general cargo and container ships; siderolling and piggyback hatch covers for bulk carriers; lift-on/lift-off hatch covers for container ships and tween deck hatch covers for general cargo ships. RoRo equipment will also be supplied, including external and internal ramps, doors in shellplating and bulkheads, car decks and side loading systems. In addition, TTS will deliver port equipment such as linkspans, gangways and platforms and offshore equipment including moonpool hatch covers and hangar doors, davits and jibs, crane towers and pedestals for cargo, service and hose handling cranes.
The deal follows several recent business wins that have strengthened TTS’ presence in Vietnam – most recently, the company has been contracted to provide cargo access equipment together with mooring and windlass winches for eight PCTC vessels being built for Ray Car Carriers and cargo access equipment to four PCTCs to being built for Hoegh Autoliners by the state-owned Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin).
Since entering the Vietnam market in May 2006, TTS has already begun operations from its Haiphong office, recruiting local staff. The company’s growth in the Vietnamese shipping industry is underwritten by wins including a contract for Bremen-based TTS Ships Equipment GmbH to supply hatch covers for the first Diamond 34 bulk carriers, which are being built by Vinashin’s Pha Rung yard. The group will also supply cranes for the bulk carriers, as well as providing cranes for a ship being built for Vietnamese ship owner Vinalines.
