Gothenburg’s TTS Ships Equipment AB has won a contract from Norway’s Bergen Group Fosen for the supply of Cargo Access Equipment to two cruise ferries under construction for Fjord Line.
The TTS supply includes design and complete delivery of approximately 300 tonnes of equipment to each vessel, including supervision of the onboard installation.
Vehicle access to and from the vessel will be provided by two TTS supplied stern ramps. The TTS delivery also includes a 1700 m2 hoistable car deck with ramps, doors for passengers and pilots as well as access hatch covers. In addition, the complete hydraulic and electric operation systems for the ro-ro equipment will be supplied by TTS.
The hulls will be built in Poland at Stocznia Gdansk, and outfitted by the Fosen yard. The vessels, which are intended for the Bergen-Stavanger-Hirtshals-Kristiansand route, will be 170 m long and 27.5 m wide, taking 1,500 passengers and approximately 600 cars, and are scheduled to be delivered in March and October 2012 respectively.
The TTS cooperation with the Fosen yard goes back a long time and many ro-ro ferries have been equipped with TTS equipment, including for instance Fjord Line’s current passenger ferry, M/S Bergensfjord, which was built at the Fosen yard and delivered in 1993.
